In 1992 the United Nations (UN) called for the international day of celebration for people living with disabilities.
Although the UN have been committed to bringing awareness around the inclusion and accessibility for disabled people since 1945 – it is not owned by them. It is owned by us, by everyone – people with all abilities, organisations, charities – you!
It is a day to celebrate those people living with disabilities and for us all to understand and learn what challenges they face yet conquer on a daily basis. The observance day encourages this community to speak up to friends, family and peers and discuss any worries they may face.
Many people are unaware of events, fundraising and support which is out their for people who are less abled. For ideas on how you can make a different through donation, fundraising and even understanding – please use the link below.
